Report: Fresno State Contacts OSU’s Ace Recruiter Marcus Arroyo About Offensive Coordinator Job
Second year Oklahoma State running backs coach Marcus Arroyo has been contacted to become the offensive coordinator at Fresno State, Sporting News reported on Thursday.
Fresno State has hired Jeff Tedford as their new head coach. Arroyo has a connection to Tedford from his past, as he was the quarterbacks coach under Tedford when he served as offensive coordinator at Tampa Bay in 2014.
Tedford eventually left his position as offensive coordinator at Tampa Bay citing health reasons. After his decision to step away, Marcus Arroyo was appointed to run the offense.
Arroyo is arguably Oklahoma State’s best recruiter, who has helped bring in 2017 running back and Canadian speedster Chuba Hubbard, along with Georgian record-setter JD King. Should Arroyo elect to take the position at Fresno State, it would leave OSU in a tough spot with some of their top running back targets moving forward. Most recruits commit to a school, but there’s no denying that a special connection between a coach and prospect can be what keeps things vanilla until signing day.
