Report: Mike Gundy Continues $1 Million Pay Cut

For the second straight year, Mike Gundy will take $1 million under his contractually obligated $5.375 million, according to the Tulsa World’s Bill Haisten.

This pay cut started last year. OSU athletic director Mike Holder said it was Gundy’s idea to take the cut, and that seems to be the case for the coming year. The pandemic has made money tight everywhere, and Haisten reported that OSU’s assistant coaches will not get a raise this offseason.

With Boone Pickens Stadium returning to full capacity in 2021, the ticket, concession and merchandise revenue should all go back up — especially considering how well OSU is doing in season-ticket sales at this point, another point Haisten highlights in his article.

With a Bedlam game on the seven-date 2021 home schedule, OSU is making a push toward a magic number: 50,000 season tickets sold.

Only twice — in 2013 and 2017 — has Oklahoma State sold as many as 50,000 season tickets. The record of 50,732 was set in 2017.

The Cowboys start their 2021 campaign at home Sept. 4 against Missouri State. OSU also hosts Tulsa (Sept. 11), Kansas State (Sept. 25), Baylor (Oct. 2), Kansas (Oct. 30), TCU (Nov. 13) and Oklahoma (Nov. 27) this upcoming season.
