Report: Mike Gundy Meeting with Baylor Regarding Head Coach Vacancy
According to multiple media reports, Mike Gundy is meeting with Baylor University regarding their head coaching vacancy. I nearly spit out my enchiladas just writing that sentence.
Rumors look like more than rumors and Mike Gundy is apparently meeting with Baylor.

Baylor, as you well know, is the closest thing to a train wreck outside Kansas in the Big 12. The Bears fired former head coach Art Briles in the spring, and reports around the school have revealed very concerning results about the schools inability to deal with alleged sexual assaults around the football program.
Mike Gundy’s team is 9-3 fresh off a Big 12 title loss — his second in two seasons. While Baylor is 6-6 after starting the year 6-0. The two programs, Oklahoma State and Baylor, are on two totally different trajectories. The rumor, in my estimation, is nothing more than leaked information to try and get Mike Gundy a raise with some leverage.
But sometimes where there’s smoke there’s fire. Maybe there’s substance to the report and maybe not. But after receiving a fair share of criticism for his coaching performance in the Big 12 title game, it’s fair to wonder if he might consider other options after a disappointing finale.
Other reports that surfaced from The Football Scoop – dudes who know the coaching search landscape — suggest the rumor is exactly that.
Word began to get out today about the possibility of Baylor speaking with Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy. Sources tell FootballScoop this is straight coaching search legend….not based in reality. Not happening.
If you want Todd Monken’s opinion? He calls BS.
