Report: Stanford Wrestling Transfer Lorenzo Norman Considering Oklahoma State
Could Taylor add another transfer?
Perhaps the Pokes aren’t quite done in the wrestling transfer portal.
The portal closed to new entrants at the end of last month, but wrestlers already in the portal can still come out of it. One of those guys still in the portal is Stanford transfer Lorenzo Norman. On FloWrestling Radio Live on Monday, Flo’s Christian Pyles noted that Norman is down to three options.
“Norman sounds like he’s down to three teams: Oklahoma State, Penn State and Ohio State,” Pyles said. “… For Oklahoma State, they did not get a lot of production out of 174 last year. Now, what can Norman do is a question, but every time you watch him, there’s really something there offensively. If he could put the matches together, he’s pretty dangerous.”
Norman wrestled just two matches this past season, missing the rest of the year with injury, but he was a national qualifier at 174 pounds as a redshirt freshman in 2025. He went 2-2 at that tournament, putting up an impressive fight against soon-to-be runner-up Keegan O’Toole in a match Norman dropped 10-8. Norman finished that redshirt freshman season at 21-6. He wrestled DJ Hamiti at the Cliff Keen that year, with Hamiti winning 4-3.
While redshirting during the 2023-24 season, Norman went 9-7. That included a 14-7 win against former OSU wrestler Brayden Thompson at Cliff Keen.
Alex Facundo was the Cowboys’ starter at 174 this past season. He went 18-8 and 2-2 at the NCAA Championships, being one of two Cowboys to not finish on the podium. So, if there’s one spot the Cowboys could further shore up, it’s there.
David Taylor has shown early in his tenure that he prefers to recruit blue-chippers from the high school ranks, but he’s also had success with transfers. Hamiti and Wyatt Hendrickson each won national titles after transferring to OSU. Transfers Caleb Fish, Cam Amine, Casey Swiderski and Zack Ryder have all also reached the podium under Taylor.
OSU has taken just one transfer this offseason in South Dakota State transfer Bennett Burge, who is expected to compete for the Cowboys’ 184-pound spot this upcoming season.
