Report: Wendell Gregory Set to Enter Transfer Portal
Gregory was the Big 12’s Defensive Freshman of the Year.
One of the players on OSU fans’ Christmas lists is hitting the portal.
Wendell Gregory is set to enter the transfer portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. Gregory was a big bright spot in an otherwise dreary season for Oklahoma State. As a redshirt freshman, he led the Pokes in sacks (four) and tackles for loss (12).
That tackle for loss number led all FBS freshman, as Gregory was named the Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the All-Big 12 Third Team.
Out of Marietta, Georgia, Gregory was a four-star prospect in the 2024 class. He was listed as the No. 179 player in the class by the 247Sports Composite ranking. He spent his true freshman season at South Carolina, picking the Gamecocks over offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Michigan, Tennessee, USC and others.
He made three sacks in his OSU debut, as UT-Martin had no answer as to how to block him. He didn’t record his next sack until the UCF game on Nov. 22, but he was still super impactful in wrapping up ball carriers behind the line of scrimmage. He had three tackles for loss against Arizona.
Given his impact on this year’s OSU squad, Gregory becomes one of the most notable portal entries for OSU. He won’t lack suitors. The Cowboys have more than 30 portal entries since Mike Gundy was fired back in September.
