Running Back Caleb Hawkins Commits to Oklahoma State, Reuniting Morris with a Top Portal Prospect
Morris got his QB and now his RB.
STILLWATER —Eric Morris turned North Texas into a playoff contender and now seems poised to install that same foundation into his new program in Stillwater.
Running back Caleb Hawkins committed to follow his former coaches, giving the Cowboys a consensus top portal prospect.

On3, 247Sports and ESPN all ranked Hawkins as the No. 2 back in the transfer portal.
On3 had him eighth overall, 247Sports 17th and ESPN the lowest, all the way down at 21st overall.
“Hawkins hugs his blocks and presses the front side, then cuts up and accelerates through the hole when he sees daylight,” said ESPN talent evaluator Steve Muench. “He breaks tackles with explosive power, contact balance and effort. He catches the ball well, he’s quick to reach his top-end speed, and he’s tough to tackle in space as a receiver out of the backfield.”
If it wasn’t already clear that Hawkins was a game-changing addition, the UNT running back finished first in rushing touchdowns (25), fourth in rushing yards (1,434), fourth in all-purpose yards per game (139) and 16th in yards per carry (6.2).
Pro Football Focus graded Hawkins out as the third-best back in 2025 with a final score of 91.9 overall.
Hawkins finished third in yards after contact (1,049).
Among qualified backs (at least 50 rushes) he finished 15th in average yards after contact (4.5) and fourth in missed tackles forced with 86. Of those same running backs, Hawkins tied for 42nd in targets with 35. Worth noting, just six more targets would have put Hawkins in a tie for 18th.
Hawkins turned those 35 opportunities into 32 catches for 370 yards, the latter of which put him tied for 11th.
His arrival in Stillwater marks something of a redemption for OSU considering he spent his high school years at North Rock Creek in Shawnee where he rushed for 1,602 yards on 204 carries for a blistering 7.9 yards per carry. He finished that season with 31 total touchdowns and turned 17 receptions into 407 yards. He also recorded 90 tackles on defense to go along with four interceptions and three forced fumbles.
Hawkins is the second North Texas player to follow Morris to Stillwater through the portal, joining his quarterback, Drew Mestemaker.
