If Ollie Gordon’s agent was sitting among NFL scouts during the Senior Bowl, he probably turned to them early in Saturday’s game like Boobie Miles’ uncle and let out a “and he can pass!”

Gordon, Collin Oliver, Nick Martin and Trey Rucker took part in the Senior Bowl on Saturday. Gordon, a running back, got the scoring started with a 32-yard touchdown pass to Jayden Higgins (Iowa State).

Gordon had nine rush attempts for 33 yards and a three-yard catch to go with his touchdown pass.

He is no stranger to chucking a pigskin. He played a little quarterback in high school, and he had a few pass attempts in his Cowboy career. He threw a 2-point conversion against Baylor in Waco this past season to Brennan Presley, who miraculously caught the ball while standing on his head. And Gordon threw a 27-yard completion to Rashod Owens against Texas Tech. Gordon also had a less successful attempt in 2023 Bedlam, when he launched a ball that ended up getting intercepted.

Oliver also had a highlight. He followed up a Landon Jackson (Arkansas) strip-sack with a fumble recovery.

The game itself ended miraculously and rather emotionally.

The National team (the one the Cowboys were on) was up 19-16 with the American team driving. Not playing for the tie, the American squad had a fourth-and-goal from the 2-yard line when Memphis’ Seth Henigan threw to TCU’s Jack Bech for a touchdown as time expired. Bech’s brother, Tiger, was one of the 15 people who died when a pickup truck drove into a crowd in New Orleans ahead of the Sugar Bowl. Jack was named Senior Bowl MVP.
