Shippy Earns Big 12 Player of the Week Honors
For the first time in her career, Vanessa Shippy has been named Big 12 Softball Player of the Week. The recognition comes after a successful weekend at the Kajikawa Classic, where the Cowgirls went 4-1.
Shippy posted insane numbers this weekend, going 11-for-13 from the plate (an .846 average) with five walks and six RBIs. She also scored nine runs and became the eighth Cowgirl to reach 200 hits.
Oklahoma State coach Kenny Gajewski said this is the best start Shippy has had under his tenure. The numbers aren’t quite sustainable, but similar performances will put Shippy in the thick of National Player of the Year consideration as the season progresses.
