Following Oklahoma State’s wild and wacky win over TCU, a handful of Cowboys were honored by the Big 12 when its weekly awards were doled out on Monday.

Chuba Hubbard was named the league’s Offensive Player of the Week, Spencer Sanders earned Newcomer of the Week and Kolby Harvell-Peel was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Chuba continued his historic run, chewing up 223 yards of turf inside BPS, the most ever allowed to a Gary Patterson-coached team. He had several impressive runs but none more than the pair of back-breaking TDs that went for 92 and 62 yards, respectively.

Sanders totaled 246 yards including 158 passing yards on just nine completions. He threw two touchdown passes and one interception. Sanders’ playmaking ability was on full display both with the deep ball — with passes of 22, 47 and 57 yards — as well as with his wheels. He had five rushes of at least 10 yards.

Despite the lone turnover, his decision-making does appear to be improving and he held onto the ball despite tying a career-high 19 rush attempts. And it should be pointed out that he did all of this sans the Big 12’s leading receiver, Tylan Wallace, who is done for the year.

Harvell-Peel filled out the stat sheet like Russell Westbrook trying to protect some historic streak. He was T2 on the team with six tackles and added to his running total of 11 pass breakups with two. Most impressively, KHP accounted for three of the Cowboys’ four forced turnovers with two interceptions and a recovered fumble.

This marks the third OPOW for Chuba, the second Newcomer of the Week for Sanders who earned the honor for his McNeese game and the second for Harvell-Peel who won it for his game against Texas. Malcolm Rodriguez was named DPOW last week.
