Spencer Sanders Named Mr. Texas Football
Oklahoma State QB commit Spencer Sanders was named Mr. Texas Football by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine on Monday, adding to his illustrious postseason awards tour that already included an honor for Gatorade Texas Player of the Year.
Sanders, the second-highest ranked commitment in OSU’s 2018 recruiting class, fell short of a state title with the Raiders last week in a loss to Highland Park, but was plenty successful during his four-year high school career. He compiled a 46-6 record in 52 starts and led Ryan to the Class 5A Division I state semifinals in each of the last two seasons.
Sanders’ senior season stats are nothing to scoff at, either. He tossed for 3,845 yards and accounted for 54 touchdowns through the air. He also rushed for 1,380 yards and added 16 scores on the ground.
Sanders intends to sign on Dec. 20, the first day of the early signing period, but will not enroll early and plans to arrive on campus next summer ahead of fall training camp.
