Starting Right Guard Larry Williams out Indefinitely
Oklahoma State was missing the rock of their interior offensive line on Saturday with Larry Williams, a junior college All-American who is in his first season at OSU, missing the contest after injuring himself “in a shorts practice”, this week, according to Mike Gundy.
Senior guard Michael Wilson, who started every game last season and has versatility to play a number of positions up front, filled his space. It’s likely he’ll be the starter at right guard moving forward.
When asked if Larry Williams could use the bye week and return in two weeks against Kansas, Gundy shook his head with disappointment. “Six weeks, probably.”
A six-week return table would mean he could be back for TCU on November 19, and would likely be available for the Dec. 3 bedlam showdown.
The details of the injury are not yet known. It’s a big blow to the offensive line, who has just been coming together as a group and producing well. Oklahoma State has the bye week this week and a week of preparation against Kansas to get guys sorted out up front and prepare Wilson for a much heavier workload up front.
