Taylor Cornelius Named to Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Watch List
Fifth-year senior quarterback Taylor Cornelius hasn’t started a game for the Cowboys yet, but he was named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list Tuesday.
The award is given out each year to the top senior quarterback who showcases character, citizenship, integrity and those who honor the game. Cornelius’ predecessor Mason Rudolph won the award last season over Baker Mayfield.
Cornelius, who came to OSU as a walk-on in 2014, is one of 50 quarterbacks on the watch list along with West Virginia’s Will Grier and Iowa State’s Kyle Kempt.
Winners from the past five seasons include Deshaun Watson, Marcus Mariota and AJ McCarron.
Cornelius has completed 15 of 24 pass attempts in his career for 220 yards, while rushing 108 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries.
The award will be handed out Dec. 7 in Baltimore.
