Teven Jenkins Day-to-Day after Being Hospitalized with Neck Injury

It was a scary scene on the field on Sunday for the former Cowboy, but he was doing much better as of Tuesday.

During the Chicago Bears’ 25-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Teven Jenkins suffered a neck injury while blocking on a wildcat play for running back David Montgomery. Shortly after the play was over, Jenkins was seen laying on the ground and did not move for several minutes.

“Somebody said that once he made contact he realized something was wrong and just fell down,” said fellow Bears offensive lineman Braxton Jones according to NBS Sports.

Chicago quarterback Justin Fields didn’t see what happened during the play but he saw his right guard laying face down.

“Teven’s a tough guy, so when he’s falling on the ground like that I knew he was hurt, instantly,” said Fields.

Jenkins was carted off the field and had to be hospitalized after the play but was released from the hospital on Sunday, and is apparently doing much better. Bears head coach Matt Eberflus said on Tuesday that Jenkins was back at the Bears training facility and is doing well enough to hold a day-to-day designation.

“He’s here, engaged, walking around, moving around, looking good,” Eberflus said.

Jenkins was selected by the Bears with the No. 39 overall pick in last year’s draft but appeared in only six games as a rookie thanks to a back injury that required surgery. After reportedly landing on the trading block for the Bears this past offseason, he made the switch from right tackle to right guard where he’s started 10 games this season and has been one of the bright spots for the Bears’ offense and even garnered some Pro Bowl buzz.
