The Reload: OSU Searching for Offensive Center on Recruiting Trail

Published

on

Losing Minnesota transfer Tyler Moore, an offensive center who was in line to potentially take over snapping duties on offense and succeed Brad Lundblade, was a big blow to OSU’s depth at the position.

Though Johnny Wilson appears to be next up, the coaching staff continues to develop relationships on the recruiting trail that suggest that, even if 2018 signee Tyrese Williams contributes early, offensive center is of great importance in the here and now with two offers of note this past week. Let’s take a look.

Offensive center offers

The first of those landed in the hands of 2019 three-star Colorado prospect Drake Nugent, a 6-foot-2, 260-pound prospect from Littleton, Colorado. Nugent has seven offers … and OSU’s on the table is arguably the most prominent.

Arizona State, Texas State, Memphis, Air Force and Colorado State have also offered.

The second offer to an offensive center recently was a Class of 2020 standout: Carson Lee, a 6-foot-4, 300-pound prospect who also hails from The Centennial State. Lee’s OSU offer is his second at the D1 level, the first of which came back in January from Iowa State.

Lee is the teammate of recent OSU offeree Michael Lynn, a 6-foot-7 Class of 2019 offensive tackle prospect.

Though Lee is hundreds of miles and hours away from Stillwater, he contends that he’ll give every school who offers a look no matter the geographic location of the university.

“At this point, whoever extends an offer to me, I am going to look into them,” he told 247Sports recently. “I will look at everybody the same and see who offers the best combination of education and football.

“My dad and my mom have talked to me about how it is not the four years you are at the school, it is about the 40 years after. I want to make sure I am going to get a top notch education to where I will be able to apply myself in the business world after football.”

OSU selling the Boone twins on Holman

Norman point guard Dayten Holman, a Class of 2020 point guard who was offered by OSU and OU this past month, is getting the full-court press by OSU’s coaching staff. And the biggest selling point appears to be the Boone twins.

In talking with Rivals during a session in Indy this past weekend, the 6-6 star gave a little insight into OSU’s recruiting tactics and they are … really fascinating.

“They are just telling me that if I come, the Boone brothers would stay there, and they are just trying to build a championship team,” he told Rivals.

Holman is a freakish, lanky talent who has garnered offers from Tulsa, OU, Tulane, Houston and Ole Miss.
