Five Cowboys Taken On Day 2 Of MLB Draft
No Oklahoma State players were drafted in the first round on Thursday, but five current Pokes were selected in the rounds beyond that on Day 2 of the MLB Draft. Here’s a look at who they are and where they went (round and overall position listed on the far left).
This is an improvement for the senior Walton who was taken in the 23rd round last year. This is also the highest the junior Hatch has ever been selected. He was taken in the 32nd round in 2013.
Here’s how OSU’s draft status stacks up nationally.
Through 10 rounds of this year’s draft, OSU’s five draft picks are tied with California for the fourth most by an NCAA program, behind only Florida and Texas A&M, who each had eight players chosen, and Louisville, which had seven.
Pretty solid. Hatch actually had to apologize to Cubs Nation after he found out he was drafted.

Why? Well apparently Cubs fans unearthed some tweets from four years ago when Hatch was proclaiming his die-hard Cardinals fandom.

Cubs head of player development Jason McLeod told the Chicago Tribune he wasn’t too concerned about the arm injury that kept Hatch out for over a year.
“It’s something that certainly we have to be aware of, but we’re confident he’s going to be healthy going forward,” McLeod said.
