The combination of Bryan Nardo and Dan Hammerschmidt is having no issues in the 2024 recruiting class.

Three-star safety David Kabongo committed to Oklahoma State on Monday, becoming the Cowboys’ third safety commitment in the 2024 class. The No. 717 player in the 247Sports Composite rankings, Kabongo picked OSU over other finalists Kansas, SMU, Indiana and UTSA. He also had offers to schools like Texas, Texas Tech, Arizona State and others.

Listed at 5-foot-11, 175 pounds out of Bryon Nelson High School in Trophy Club, Texas, Kabongo had 64 total tackles, two tackles for loss, two interceptions, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery this past season, according to MaxPreps. His high school went 11-2, making it to the Regional round of the Texas 6A-D2 state playoffs.

Kabongo also competes in track at Byron Nelson. He ran a 11.20 100-meter dash at districts this spring and recorded a personal-best long jump of 20 feet, 9 inches.

With the style of defense the Cowboys have played and are set to play under Nardo, you can’t have too many good safeties. Kabongo joins Landyn Cleveland and Willie Nelson as safeties committed in the Cowboys’ 2024 class. Kabongo becomes the seventh recruit to join the fold overall, moving Oklahoma State’s class up to 40th in the national rankings.
