Three Things to Watch When OSU Wrestles Minnesota on Sunday
Here’s what to watch on the mat for OSU on Sunday.
A really good dual coming up for Oklahoma State on Sunday as the Cowboys wrestle Minnesota in Gallagher-Iba at 2:00. Let’s dive in on a few key points to watch here.
1. Can Fix, Plott and Sheets get bonus?
There’s not a ton of room for bonus points in this dual in either direction, but the most realistic spots for OSU are at 133, 165, and 174. Any bonus points here could be huge for the Cowboys.
2. Does Wittlake continue his success at 184?
One of the stories of the early part of the season for OSU is Travis Wittlake’s move to 184, and the success he’s having at the new weight class. He’s got another tough test here with 13th-ranked Isaiah Salazar. Can he get another big win at the new weight class? Could be huge for this dual.
3. Could it come down to the new HWT?
Konner Doucet is the new starting heavyweight for the Cowboys after Luke Surber’s move down to 197. It’s going well so far as he’s 3-0 and has earned a #16 national ranking. There’s a real possibility with all of the toss-ups in this dual it comes down to him. He’s favored here, but that’s a lot of pressure for a young wrestler in a new starting role.
This should be a really fun dual. If you’re going to be there a bit early, I encourage checking out the RTC tailgate and OSU’s 34 NCAA title trophies. Should be a good time.
