Top in-state Prospects Still on the Board for Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State has done a great job recently keeping some of their top targets within the state. But the Sooners’ recruiting success has slightly slowed the momentum they had last season after signing Calvin Bundage, Justice Hill, and Tramonda Moore.

But there’s still plenty of talented prospects in the state to keep an eye on – here’s a list of some who haven’t picked up offers yet, but may do so before the recruiting cycle is all said and done.

Deontre Thomas – Defensive Tackle

Thomas, a 6-foot-3, 285-pound defensive tackle, is raking in the offers on the recruiting trail from Texas A&M, Arkansas, Michigan, and others. He’s a big-time prospect from Mustang, Okla., the home of the fighting David Glidden’s. The Cowboys already have a commitment in 2017 from Bixby’s Brendon Evers, and Thomas would be an excellent complement to Evers as a 1-2 punch on the inside.

Evan Fields – Safety

Fields is a Midwest City standout who has garnered recent offers from Memphis, Houston, and a few other non power-five schools. But he’s bound to blow up soon with his 6-foot-2, nearly 200-pound frame. The Cowboys will lose a wealth of talent at safety next year with Jordan Sterns and Derrick Moncrief. On top of that, they did not sign a safety in the 2016 class, so they’ll be looking to add an elite prospect who can come in and compete right away. Perhaps Fields is that guy.

Creed Humphrey – Center

Humphrey is a 6-foot-4, 300-pound mauler from Shawnee, who has already seen his stock rise with offers from Kansas State, Texas A&M and Texas just this week. If the Cowboys want to add a big, physical lineman who plays with a meanstreak, Humphrey should be a target in the near future. Before he gets snatched up across state lines.

Gervarrius Owens – Linebacker

Owens is the first of two Southmoore freaks to make the list. He’s a 6-2, 190-pound athlete who plays safety, receiver, and could fill into a linebacker body at the next level. He has offers from Iowa State, Memphis, Cincinnati, and others, with more likely on the way. If you’re going to find talent in the state, Southmoore is an excellent place to start.

Quindon Lewis – Safety

Lewis is the other Southmoore talent who, at 6-0 155 lbs., is a physical specimen who plays receiver and safety and could brings a versatility that the Cowboys desperately need to compete in the pass happy Big 12. Lewis has offers from Cincy, Memphis, and several others, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Cowboys turn up the heat as the process moves forward depending on other prospects on the board.
