Tulsa Transfer Quarterback Banks Bowen Commits to Oklahoma State
OSU adds a QB after a pair hit the portal last week.
The Cowboys were in need of some depth at quarterback after Garret Rangel and Maealiuaki Smith jumped into the transfer portal last week, and Monday evening, they got it.
Banks Bowen announced his commitment to Oklahoma State. Bowen was an early enrollee freshman at Tulsa this spring. He’s the son of OSU quality control coach Clint Bowen, who was Banks’ high school coach.

Banks was a two-year starter at Lawrence High School in Kansas. He threw for 4,144 yards and 36 touchdowns in his high school career while running for another 2,109 yards and 27 scores. As a senior this past season, he completed 62% of his passes for 2,368 yards and 23 touchdowns. He chose Tulsa over offers from North Texas, Colorado State, Wyoming and others.
With Rangel and Smith in the portal after this spring’s four-man quarterback battle, the only QBs on the Cowboys’ roster were Zane Flores and Hauss Hejny. Considering OSU has used at least three quarterbacks in the past three seasons, that was a scary thought heading into 2025, but now they’ve secured some depth.
