Viktor Hovland Wins Mayakoba Classic with Birdie on 18
And Austin Eckroat was solid as an amateur.
Viktor Hovland is now a two-time winner on the PGA Tour.
The former Oklahoma State standout hit a walk-off birdie on 18 to break a would-be tie with Aaron Wise. Hovland finished the event with a 20-under 264.
Hovland’s best round at the tournament came Saturday when he carded an eight-under 63.
With the win, Hovland takes home a healthy $1.296 million.
There were eight Cowboys at the El Camaleon Golf Club in Mexico this weekend, including a current Cowboy who showed he is ready for the big leagues.
Austin Eckroat, a junior on OSU’s golf team, attended the event as an amateur and finished T12th with a 14-under 270, that put him second among Cowboys in the tournament.
