Viktor Hovland Wins TOUR Championship, FedEx Cup
Oh, and he won $18 million.
Oklahoma State has a FedEx Cup champion for the first time since the trophy’s inception in 2007.
After winning the BMW Championship last weekend, Viktor Hovland continued his outstanding play into the Tour Championship this weekend, taking the tournament and the FedEx Cup.
Hovland finished at 27-under at East Lake Golf Club to beat Xander Schauffele by five strokes. Hovland and Schauffele went nuclear Sunday with Schauffele carding a 62 and Hovland a 63.
The former OSU golfer takes home a beautiful $18 million purse with the win. He also joins the likes of Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth and others as a FedEx Cup winner.
Hovland didn’t bogey a single hole on Sunday. He also closed with ice in his veins, birdieing holes 16, 17 and 18. But perhaps his best stroke of the day came on a par save on 14.
“When that putt went in, it was just huge for momentum,” Hovland said. “… That was just a big one for momentum, and after that I just really relaxed.”
