ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith has many a go-to saying, but none more famous — or perhaps infamous — than this gem that keeps giving, and giving, and giving. He plays the hits, because people love the hits. And this one is more than just a one-hit wonder:
It seems OSU golf product Viktor Hovland has taken a liking to the saying. When asked this week his thoughts on being the odds-on favorite (along with Matthew Wolff) to win the John Deere Classic this week, Hovland, with his sly smile, hit the Stephen A.
“I don’t know what my thoughts on that are,” he said. “Stay off the weed-uh. [chuckles]”

He’s probably not going to be filling in for Stephen A. on First Take anytime soon, but honestly, not bad!
Hovland’s odds to win the John Deere this weekend as second-best behind Collin Morikawa at 16-1. Charles Howell III and Wolff are both 20-1. Howell III, Wolff and Kevin Tway — three OSU products — are all paired together on Thursday to kick off the tournament. Hovland is paired with Morikawa and Doc Redman.
