Wake Forest Transfer Right-Hander Tyler Wood Commits to Oklahoma State
OSU adds a former high-level recruit from Missouri.
Baseball transfer No. 3 is headed to Stillwater.
Wake Forest transfer right-handed pitcher Tyler Wood announced via Instagram on Tuesday that he has committed to Oklahoma State.
Listed at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, Wood was a freshman for the Demon Deacons this past season. He pitched just 1 1/3 innings, finishing the year with a 27 ERA thanks to one of those four appearances being rather rough. But with the limited sample size, I wouldn’t put too much into that number.
Wood was a solid prospect. Out of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, by way of Lee’s Summit West High School, Wood was the No. 139 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, according to Perfect Game. That made him the No. 3 player out of Missouri.
Perfect game credited him with a 94 MPH fastball in 2024. Here’s what the outlet said about him as a prospect as the 2024 National Showcase:
“Outstanding athletic build with length and some present strength and more to come. Has a balanced and athletic delivery with a clean and fast arm stroke, ball comes out of his hand easily. Fastball topped out at 94 mph, more velocity there as he matures, locates his fastball well to the glove side, has advanced fastball metrics with 20″ plus IVB and some horizontal as well. Slider was a solid second pitch, gyro shape and lateness and is located well. Still developing his change up but kills spin effectively. High level athlete with a very projectable arm.” — Perfect Game
Wood joins Utah pitcher Kaden Soder and Morehead State transfer Aubrey Kearns as pledges in the Cowboys’ portal class.
