WATCH: Fan Calls Out Rickie Fowler, Gets Earful From Bubba Watson
Rickie Fowler missed his third cut in five events on Friday at the Memorial in Ohio but not before this incident with a fan. When Fowler was putting on the 18th hole in Thursday’s first round, a fan yelped at him. This has strangely become a running theme this year.
Anyway Bubba Watson jumped up for Rickie and yelled back at the fan. “Who said it?” Watson yelled. “Not so tough now, are you?”
The whole thing is actually pretty funny.
What’s not so humorous is that Fowler missed the cut which means he’s missed three cuts in his last five events after starting off 2016 scorching hot. Here’s a look at his last five events.
He doesn’t seem super concerned about it (and he probably shouldn’t be). Still, it’s a little disappointing to see from somebody I thought was poised for a monstrous year (and still might be).
“It’s not the train you want to get on, the missed cut train,” said Fowler on Friday. “The game actually feels really good. I played well when I was off at home. I had some low scores and didn’t swing it all that great yesterday, but on top of that, putting was really bad yesterday and today. I’m looking forward to getting some good work in at home. Like I said, the swing felt really good today. Just tightened things up and definitely need to get the flat stick happy and ready to go.”
Ready to go means for the U.S. Open which is in just two weeks.
