Watch: Jacobe Smith Wins UFC Debut with First Round Knockout
‘We on the come up. Cowboy nation, let’s ride.’
Former Cowboy wrestler Jacobe Smith stepped into his UFC debut on just eight days notice, and it took him just over a minute to earn his first win in the promotion.
Smith beat Preston Parsons via knockout just 1:13 into their bout with a brutal strike.
The win pushed Smith to 10-0 in his MMA career. He’s won eight of those matches via knockout and has tallied seven first-round finishes. Smith earned a UFC contract after a win on Dana White’s Contender Series.
Smith was an All-American at OSU in 2018 after winning a pair of NJCAA national titles at NEO. He started his MMA career in 2021 and has flown up the ranks. In his news conference after the fight, Smith also gave shoutouts to fellow OSU alums Kyle Crutchmer and Nick Piccininni, who are also coming up in the MMA world. Crutchmer is 10-2. Piccininni is 7-1.
“We on the come up,” Smith said. “Cowboy nation, let’s ride.”
