Saturday was a bad day to be a duck, and it was also a bad day to be an armadillo.

Following Oklahoma State’s 39-31 victory against Oregon this past weekend, Cowboy coach Eric Morris has been doing a media carwash of sorts to promote his team.

One of those stops came on Barstool’s Pardon My Take, where he was asked about the ESPN push notification that got sent out after he shared news in fall camp that he had killed an armadillo that was tearing up his yard.

“It was getting after my yard pretty good,” Morris said. “I’m from Texas, and usually wild hogs is usually what roots everything up. I thought it was a wild hog. My yard guy, I called him and asked if I had a hog problem. He started laughing and said, ‘No, you got a bad armadillo problem.’ So, just couldn’t sleep one night during camp, 2:30 in the morning got up, and I finally won the match.”

But it didn’t stop there. Morris had a gathering at his house this past weekend after the Cowboys knocked off Oregon, and another armadillo went down.

“Now, ironically, I had a lot of people, a lot of family in town — 50-plus,” Morris said. “Everybody coming over the the house to celebrate. One of my nephews, 16 years old, we were up, about to go to bed at 12, and he said, ‘I wonder if there’s another armadillo out there.’ Low and behold there was Saturday night. So, we got one more.”

You’re not going to get these kinds of follow-ups everywhere, but Eric Sollenberger, better known as PFT Commenter, asked what Morris used to get through the tough shell of an armadillo.

“I have a nice little AR,” Morris said. “It’s a good match for the armadillo.”
