What’s more unpredictable, I ask: The year of our Lord 2020, or the first few weeks of the Big 12’s conference race?

It’s probably neck and neck at this point!

Saturday proved the league is in total disarray right now at the top, with No. 9 Texas tumbling to TCU, 33-31 earlier in the day Saturday. Then things got even more chaotic Saturday night as No. 18 OU lost its second consecutive game, falling 37-30 to unranked Iowa State.

So get this: that leaves Oklahoma State — through three weeks of play, no less! — as the only remaining unbeaten team in the Big 12 conference. Here is a look at the current standings.

It’s too soon to go circling the wagons if you’re OSU, of course. We’re just three games into the season. But the team picked to win the league by a landslide, OU, is winless against two unranked conference foes through two weeks of league play. And the team picked to finish second, Texas, is fortunate to be 1-1 after escaping a close one last week with Texas Tech.

Oklahoma State’s schedule will turn tough soon starting with a road trip to Baylor in two weeks followed by home tilts against Iowa State and Texas, but it’s hard to imagine a more fortuitous start to the Big 12 schedule for OSU.
