Wrestling Preview: Broadcast Info, Projected Lineups and Series History for Bedlam Round 2
OSU has won the last 18.
Wrestling was the beginning of Bedlam, including for Oklahoma State coach John Smith.
Smith’s No. 2 Cowboys will host in-state rival No. 25 Oklahoma at 2 p.m. Sunday in Gallagher-Iba Arena for the second round of Bedlam this season. OSU has won the last 18 meetings, including the first Bedlam of this season in Norman, 28-9.
Unlike most other sports that are saying farewell (at least for now) to Bedlam as OU leaves for the SEC, the rivalry will continue in wrestling, as the Sooners will stay in the Big 12 as an affiliate member for the sport.
“Bedlam is Bedlam,” Smith said. “You come off a win, they’re not easy. I know we’ve won a lot of them in a row, but, one, you just take it real serious. That week is an important week of training. There’s a sense of pride in the state that you’re trying to keep ahold of. Is it a motivator, did it move us forward [after the first Bedlam win this season]? Yeah, definitely. …
“Try losing one. Yeah, there’s meaning. I’ve been around Bedlam since, I don’t know, nine years old. First Bedlam was right here, come and watched it. As many of you know, it’s always been good. There’s something about it. In all sports. Bedlam has been important to the state. I’m just really pleased, looking forward to the future that I get to watch it someday when I’m done coaching. It’s a great dual meet, great history.”
Here’s everything to know about Bedlam Round 2, including broadcast info, projected lineups and series history.
