Wrestling Preview: Broadcast Info, Projected Lineups and Series History for OSU vs. South Dakota State
The start of three straight home duals for OSU.
This weekend is one that can’t be overlooked by the Cowboys, and John Smith is sure of that.
Oklahoma State hosts No. 12 South Dakota State at 6 p.m. Saturday in Gallagher-Iba Arena. It will be the No. 2 Cowboys’ ninth straight dual against a ranked team, and the season only concludes with two more like it after. OSU will host No. 23 Oklahoma on Feb. 18 and No. 5 Iowa on Feb. 25.
Wins the next three weekends, though, would give the Cowboys their first undefeated dual season since 2020-21, but they competed in only 10 duals and against no top-10 opponents in that season full of cancellations because of COVID. OSU was 15-0 in the 2018-19 season with 10 ranked victories, which OSU has already matched with three duals left.
Even outside of what’s at stake in getting the program back on track, after South Dakota State awaits OSU’s biggest rivals in OU and Iowa. But, first, the Jackrabbits.
“I don’t give a damn about Iowa and Oklahoma,” Smith said. “I can’t get ahead of myself. It’s a big mistake when we start looking ahead. It’s OK for the fans to do it. I’ve read a lot about it and seen a lot written about it. It’s just like, ‘Hey, this is a pretty good team coming in here. They’re pretty balanced.’ We’ve had matches with some teams that are ranked 22, 23 and, hey, we had a lot of one-point victories. We need to stay focused on what’s at hand. Right now it’s about our training and South Dakota State.”
Here’s everything to know about OSU’s matchup with South Dakota State, including broadcast info, projected lineups and series history.
