Wyatt Hendrickson Uses Herculean Throw to Win Pan-American Gold
He tossed a giant over his head.
Wyatt Hendrickson displayed another example of his ridiculous athleticism this weekend on his way to winning another tournament.
Hendrickson won his second straight gold at the Pan-American Championships this weekend, and just like last year, he ended the festivities with some flare.
He matched up with Canada’s Jorawar Dhinsa in the final, who … is a large man. It’s not super normal for heavyweights to be at the weight limit of 125 kg (about 276 pounds), but Hendrickson said he saw Dhinsa cutting weight the night before.
Dhinsa looked to be about a head taller than Hendrickson. But early in the match, Hendrickson wrapped Dhinsa in a standing body lock, lifted the larger man off the ground, and tossed him over his head. The four-point maneuver that drew an audible gasp from those in attendance in Coralville, Iowa.
Not to be outdone, Dhinsa hit Hendrickson with an arm throw shortly after the restart to tie the bout at 4. Dhinsa then went for another big throw before Hendrickson was able to stuff it and momentarily put the Canadian on his back. Hendrickson would hit another four-pointer. Dhinsa went for a desperation throw late in the period, but Hendrickson anticipated it, caught his foe on his back and pinned him.
There simply aren’t boring Hendrickson matches.
That was one of three matches Hendrickson won en route to his second Pan-Am gold. He also pinned Mexico’s Brandon Flores in 30 seconds and teched Brazil’s Gabriel De Sousa Silva in 53 seconds.
Hendrickson was one of two Cowboy RTC athletes to take gold at the event, joining 2025 World Champ Zahid Valencia. Valencia didn’t give up a point in his three bouts, beating the Dominican Republic’s Christopher Foca Mejia in the final.
Both Cowboy RTC athletes are prepping for Final X, which is June 19 in New Jersey, where they’ll wrestle a best-of-three series for a spot on the United States World Team.
