2015 Cowboy Baseball Predictions

on

With first pitch scheduled for 7:30 tonight – you can watch live here – I brought in Kyle Porter to make some predictions for this season.

Who will be the MVP for OSU this year?

KP: Donnie Walton
AS: Jon Perrin

Walton tied for the team lead in batting average and had the second-best on-base percentage last year, while Perrin was OSU’s best starting pitcher for most of the year. Other MVP options: Gage Green, Tim Arakawa, Tyler Buffett, Blake Battenfield

Which freshman will make the biggest impact?

KP: Jon Littell
AS: Jon Littell

The Stillwater native hit .446 with five home runs for the 6A state champion Pioneers last year, and is slated to start in right field this season. Other impact freshman: Carson Teel, Garrett McCain, Carson LaRue

Who wins the Big 12?

KP: OSU wins a second straight conference title
AS: TCU and OSU split the title (One True Champion, right Big 12?)

How far do the Cowboys go this season? What percent chance do you give them to win the whole thing?

KP: I think the Cowboys get to Omaha and lose out as one of the last four teams — 5 percent chance to win it all (which is probably 10x higher than it’s been in most of the last decade)
AS: I agree. It’s Omaha or bust for this squad. If last season was any example, Holliday will find a way to add some of the new guys in with the existing bunch and get maximum effort from the team.
