Oklahoma State earned its second pledge for the 2022 cycle this week when three-star cornerback Avyonne Jones tweeted out his commitment on Saturday shortly after the Cowboys’ Spring Game, which he attended.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound cornerback hails from Southlake Carroll High School where he earned a Texas District 4-6A first-team selection last year as the Dragons finished as district runners-up. Jones is also a childhood friend of 2022 OSU commit Garret Rangel.

Jones has been on the Cowboys’ radar for quite a while. He visited Stillwater for the Kansas game in 2019 with the coaching staff offering him last December.

His offer sheet is up to nearly 30 but he narrowed it down to a Top 10 (which included OSU) in March. He was back in Stillwater this weekend but has an official visit scheduled for the weekend of June 9-11. Apparently the Spring Game festivities were enough to seal the deal.

Jones is the No. 96 cornerback in the class, according to 247 Sports Composite rankings and the No. 138 player in Texas. He’s the second cornerback to commit for 2022, joining three-star Saint Louis product Cameron Epps. This pledge comes just three days after the Cowboys landed Bixby’s Braylin Presley.

After Jones’ commitment, the Pokes’ 2022 class sits at No. 13 nationally and third in the Big 12 behind OU and Texas.
