Five Thoughts on Oklahoma State’s 118-68 Victory Against Queens
OSU nearly set a scoring record on Friday night.

Everyone remain calm, but the Cowboys looked as good as they have in some time on Friday night.
Oklahoma State beat a Queens team predicted to win the Atlantic Sun 118-68 on Eddie Sutton Court. Here are five takeaways from the contest.
1. That’s a Lot of Points
The 118 points the Cowboys scored Friday night mark the sixth-most an OSU team has ever scored in a game.
The record is 129, a total the Cowboys hit against SWOSU in 2007. The most points OSU has scored against a Division-I opponent came in 1989 when the Cowboys hung 124 on Oral Roberts.
As might be expected by a high scoring output, the Cowboys shot well from 3, going 16-for-28 (57%). OSU has only ever made more 3s twice — hitting 17 against Sam Houston in 2023 and 17 against Texas Tech in 2019.
When the Cowboys weren’t hitting 3s, they were often hanging on the rim at the end of a fastbreak, as OSU had eight dunks in the game and 27 fastbreak points.

2. And the Defensive Performance Deserves a Shoutout
Queens has already played two games entering Friday’s contest, winning both while averaging 99.5 points per and shooting 64% from the field.
Along with holding the Royals to 68 points, OSU also saw Queens shoot just 35% from the field and turn the rock over 18 times.
A lot of times it was the defense leading to OSU’s prolific offense, with 24 of the Cowboys’ points coming off Queens turnovers.

Royal guards Jordan Watford and Nasir Mann each came in averaging at least 23 points a game and were held to six points and 11 points, respectively. The combined for more turnovers than made jump shots.
So, yes, the offensive is going to garner a lot of the headlines, but this was a nice early notch on the belt of the OSU defense, as well.
3. Have a Day, Andrija Grbovic
The benefactor of the Cowboys’ offensive explosion was Arizona State transfer Andrija Grbovic.
The 6-foot-11 Montenegrin finished with a team-high 17 points, going 5-for-6 from 3 in the process. He hit his first four 3-point attempts — all coming in the game’s opening 11 minutes — before missing.
It marks a career-high in points scored and 3-point makes for Grbovic, who averaged 6.8 points a game with the Sun Devils last season.
He’s a mismatch on the win with his length, and if he can keep hitting at a similar clip this season, look out.
4. Freshmen Stock Rising
Taking part in their second game of college basketball, OSU’s freshmen combined to finish with 44 points, 11 rebounds, nine assists, six steals and just five turnovers on Friday night.
It’s hard to even say who played the best.
Anthony Felesi earned his second start in as many outings, going for nine points, two rebounds, three assists, a pair of blocks and three steals in 22 minutes.

McDonald’s All-American Latrell Allmond tied for a game-high +36 (meaning OSU was 36 points better than Queens with Allmond on the floor) in just 19 minutes. He scored a dozen points to go with six boards and three assists.
Parker Robinson had the more points than his classmates, finishing with 14 while going a perfect 5-for-5 from the field, 2-for-2 from 3 and 2-for-2 from the line.
Then former Owasso standout Jalen Montonati got in for six minutes late and turned those six minutes into nine points and three boards.
Good signs for the present, and good signs for the future.
5. Kanye Clary Returns
Because of a groin injury, Kanye Clary didn’t play a ton in the preseason. He didn’t play a ton Friday, but he did play.
Clary was on a minutes restriction, playing only six minutes. In that time, he didn’t take a shot but he had four assists and no turnovers. And OSU was +15 in those short six minutes on the floor.
