BOXSCORE

The new-look Cowgirls continue their dominant start.

No. 22 Oklahoma State defeated Morgan State 92-38 thanks to another offensive explosion. After defeating Southern 81-39 on Monday, the Cowgirls have won their first two games by an average of 48 points.

The Cowgirls led from wire to wire, but the Bears gave them some resistance in the first half. Despite winning the period 19-6, the Cowgirls shot just 38.5% from the field. They started just 2-for-6 from the field and were 4-of-11 midway through the quarter before breaking off a 14-0 run to go up 19-4.

Fueled by Nene Ndiaye and Liv McGill, the Cowgirls outscored the Bears 23-9 in the second quarter to take a 42-15 lead into halftime and the rout was on.

The third quarter scoring was shouldered mostly by Yuting Deng and Iowa State transfer Audi Crooks. That went even better for OSU which led 68-23 after three. With their starters resting most of the way, the Cowgirls still held a 24-15 edge in the fourth.

Junior guard Liv McGill led all scorers with 24 points on 8-of-16 shooting. The Florida transfer flirted with triple-double status with her eight rebounds and eight assists. She also had four steals.

In just her second game for the Cowgirls, Audi Crooks made some more history. She scored 14 points on just 10 shots to go with 11 rebounds and two steals in 19 minutes.

With her double-digit double-double, Crooks has now scored in double digits in 100 consecutive games, the longest active streak in Division I hoops. It’s even more impressive considering that this was her 101st career game. She scored eight points in her freshman debut back in 2023.

Nene Ndiaye scored 16 for the second consecutive game, this time on a perfect 4-for-4 from the field including a pair of 3-pointers. The former Rutger transfer was one of two Cowgirls that went 6-for-6 from the charity stripe.

The other was Yuting Deng who chipped in 14 points, also perfect from the field (3-for-3) and also with two deep balls. Deng scored all her points in the second half. She also had six rebounds.

Callin Hake was also 2-for-2 from deep, scoring six points. The Cowgirls were 7-for-14 (50%) from 3-point range on the night after going just 8-for-29 (28%) in their season opener on Monday.

The Cowgirls also owned the glass, outrebounding Morgan State 51-31 and going 10-0 in second-chance points. OSU held a 38-20 advantage in paint points

Altogether, five Cowgirls scored in double digits while not a single Bear did. Yonta Vaughn and Alexis Graise each scored six for Morgan State.

In a scary scene for Cowgirls fans, Stailee Heard went down on a hard foul and landed awkwardly on her back. She was able to get up on her own but headed to the locker room obviously in pain. She would not return to the floor but did rejoin her team on the bench.

With the win, the Cowgirls improve to 2-0. Next up, they’ll host Northwestern State at 11 a.m. Monday in Gallagher-Iba Arena before hitting the road for the first time this season. OSU will take on the Golden Hurricane in Tulsa at 5 p.m. Thursday.
