The Cowboys have their second wide receiver commit within the past few days.

Royal Capell, a three-star prospect out of Steele High School in Cibolo, Texas, announced his commitment to Oklahoma State on Tuesday. His commitment comes after taking an official visit to Oklahoma State this past weekend, and he is the second OSU commit this week, as Kameron Powell, also a wide receiver, committed on Sunday.

Capell is the No. 587 player in the 2025 class, according to the 247Sports Composite ranking. That makes him the No. 90 receiver in those rankings and the No. 101 player from the state of Texas. He chose Oklahoma State over offers from Baylor, Oklahoma, Oregon, Missouri and others.

Capell is one of three Steele Knights that OSU has offered in the 2025 class, joining wide receiver Jalen Cooper and athlete Sean Robinson. Steele went 13-2 this past season, making the semifinals of the Texas 6A-D2 bracket. Across the past two seasons, Capell has caught 121 passes for 1,555 yards and 11 touchdowns. Listed at 5-foot-10, 190 pounds, Capell spent a lot of time in the slot for the Knights this past season.

Capell becomes the sixth commitment in the Cowboys’ 2025 class and the fifth expected to contribute on the offensive side of the ball. OSU offensive coordinator and receivers coach Kasey Dunn is killing it on the recruiting trail right now, as this is already his third wide receiver commit of the cycle, as Capell adds to Powell and Idabel athlete Matrail Lopez.

Capell’s commitment leapfrogs the Cowboys’ class all the way up to No. 5 in the Big 12 rankings, per 247Sports. OSU was sitting at eighth before his pledge. That’s good for the 29th class nationally after starting the day at 44.
