Uniform Review: Homecoming Helmet Gets Perfect Score
I will be grading OSU’s uniforms each week using a criteria consisting of five categories.
Four of the five categories are on a scale of 1-5. The helmet will have its own rating. Aesthetics will be a rating of the flow of the uniform as a whole. The intimidation factor will simply be how intimidating the uniform looks. The accessories will be a rating of the gloves, socks, shoes, and sleeves. Additionally, the Cowboys get a point for winning. A perfect score is 21 points for the GOAT.
Helmet (5)
Homecoming throwback helmets might have become my favorite thing about Oklahoma State’s uniforms. This year we got to see the 1980-1983 helmets with the old-school OSU logo and they were elite. How about that OKLA. STATE sticker on the back? Incredible.

The equipment staff went above and beyond with thoughtfulness here.

Even though it wasn’t mentioned, this helmet could also be considered a tribute to Jeff Naple, whose first season with Oklahoma State was 1981.

Aesthetics (5)
This was the first tri-color combination that Oklahoma State has worn at home with the new threads and it did not disappoint. West Virginia’s tri-color combo complemented the uniform match-up really well.
I don’t know if OSU has a better helmet for this combination. Although the helmet lacks orange, the white logo ties in to the white numbers on the jerseys and the white pants. The black helmet also flows right in to the bandana pattern on the collar of the jersey. The Homecoming socks make me wish I still had eligibility to be on the team.

Accessories (5)
The accessories could be rated a 5/5 just by looking at those socks, but then I saw the cleats that some of the players were wearing. Have mercy!

Win (1)
Gundy’s one hundredth win was a homecoming match-up against a top 10 team. You can’t ask for a better story than that.
