A big hurler from the Bronx is headed to Stillwater.

St. John’s transfer pitcher Mario Pesca announced via Instagram on Sunday that he will transfer to Oklahoma State. The Sunday starter for the Red Storm this past season, Pesca threw 76 innings, where he posted a 2.96 ERA and a .242 batting average against. He struck out 53 while posting a 6-1 record with all 15 of his appearances being starts, earning him All-Big East First Team honors. All that came as a sophomore, so Pesca should have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

A right-hander, Pesca is a big dude — listed at 6-foot-8, 225 pounds.

He made 18 appearances as a freshman in 2023, nine of which were starts. He had a 6.65 ERA as a freshman with 33 strikeouts in 46 innings.

Pesca attended Cardinal Spellman High School in the Bronx and was listed as the No. 500 player in his recruiting class, according to Perfect Game.

He played briefly with the Chatham Anglers last summer in the Cape Cod League, where former OSU coach Tom Holliday (father of OSU coach Josh Holliday) was the coach before stepping down. With the Anglers, Pesca threw three scoreless innings.

This is the third player OSU has grabbed out of the portal this offseason, with all three being pitchers. Pesca joins Jacksonville right-hander Tommy Allman and Hawaii left Harrison Bodendorf as pitchers headed to Stilly.
