Watch: Washington Will Always Be ‘Small Town James’
Oklahoma State’s own Biletnikoff fave was the subject of a feature by CBS Sports released on Tuesday. In it Washington talks about his small-town roots being from Stamford, Texas, his love for hunting and he gets bragged on by his family, teammates and fellow Stamfordites.

“No one really cared about (being flashy) in Stamford,” said Washington. “It was always ‘do your job and do it right.’ I always try to go back to my roots and live true to myself.”
It’s pretty awesome to have player of Washington’s stature and character represent Oklahoma State, and I’m sure his hometown feels the same way.
“I expect to see a sign pretty soon that says ‘Stamford, Texas home of James Washington,’ said a Stamford radio host in the video. “It’s really a focal point of pride. Not just because he’s a great football player but just a great kid.”
Washington is second nationally in receiving yards on fewer targets than the rest of the top five. He’s averaging a ridiculous 14.6 yards per target and 67.1 percent catch rate, if you needed any more convincing of his greatness.
Three Biletnikoff Award finalists will be announced next Monday November 20 and the winner will be announced on December 7.
