It was a busy week for Oklahoma State athletics as wrestling, baseball, softball and both basketball teams were in action. Let’s take a look at what went down.

Women’s Basketball

The Cowgirls fell to West Virginia, 69-60, in the quarterfinal round of the Big 12 Tournament in Oklahoma City last week to fall to 20-10 on the season.

Senior Kaylee Jensen led the Cowgirls in points with 20 and fell one rebound short of a double-double. Point guard Loryn Goodwin contributed 15 points as well as eight rebounds, eight assists and four steals.

The Cowgirls now await their tournament fate, which will be announced on March 12 at 7 p.m. ET on the NCAA Selection Show on ESPN.

Soccer

Yes, soccer!

The Cowgirls opened up their exhibition season with two victories against Oklahoma Baptist and Oral Roberts in Tulsa. OSU defeated the Bison, 4-1, before a 2-1 victory over ORU to finish unscathed in the doubleheader.

The Cowgirls’ exhibition season goes through April all around the midwest area. For their full spring schedule, click here.

Softball

The 24th-ranked Cowgirls went 5-0 in Mizuno Classic last week, culminating in a 9-3 victory over Saint Francis in Stillwater, to give the team its best start to the season since 2011.

The Cowgirls’ most notable win was over Omaha on Saturday, where OSU scored 14-straight runs before recording an out in the bottom of the fourth. The Cowgirls would go on to win that game, 16-3, and it was one of four victories that only lasted five innings.

Oklahoma State’s next action is in the OSU Hall of Fame Classic on Friday at the ASA Hall of Fame Complex in Oklahoma City. The Cowgirls will play Purdue, Saint Francis and Connecticut, among others.

Wrestling

The Cowboys earned their sixth-consecutive and 52nd overall conference championship this past week at the Big 12 Wrestling Championship in Tulsa on Sunday.

OSU finished with 137 team points, which was more than 40 points ahead of runner-up Northern Iowa.

The Cowboys also had four individual conference champions, with Nick Piccininni, Boo Lewallen, Chandler Rogers and Derek White all claiming first in their respective categories. OSU’s individual champion total was the most in the conference, and no other team had more than two.
