Lucas N’Guessan Requests Release from Oklahoma State
According to a release from Oklahoma State, junior center Lucas N’Guessan has requested his release with intent to transfer.
“Lucas has informed me of his desire to continue his college career outside of out program,” said head coach Mike Boynton. “We are thankful to him for his commitment to Cowboy Basketball for the past two seasons. We support his decision and wish him great success as he moves forward.”
The 7-foot center averaged just 1.9 points and 1.8 rebounds in 9.2 minutes per game over his two-year career in Stillwater. He appeared in 54 games and started 17.
For the future, this move does open up an addition spot on the roster, making 10 returning starters after the upcoming 2018-19 season. With Kalib and Keylan Boone firm in their commitment, that would bring the scholarship count to 12 of 13 available spots, allowing the Cowboys to add another signee in the 2019 class.
But for this upcoming season the Cowboys will now be extremely thin in the front court. Boyton’s squad was already lacking depth and experience at center after saying good bye to Mitchell Solomon due to graduation and Yankuba Sima due to his pursuit of a pro career. Incoming true freshmen Kentrevious Jones is now the lone center on the roster.
