New York Giants Claim Former OSU Lineman Victor Salako Off Waivers
The New York Giants had a woeful offensive line unit last season that ranked in the bottom seven in yards rushing in the NFL. Since then, they’ve made an effort to overhaul the unit by drafting a guard in the second round, and also by signing a number of free agents to help complement newly-drafted running back Saquon Barkley.
Thanks to their push to shore up some depth at the position, former OSU offensive tackle Victor Salako was claimed off waivers by the franchise this week in a transaction that also left Jarron Jones without a job, the team announced.

Salako was with the Browns briefly, but waived at the end of July to clear roster room for another signing after joining the team in January. Prior to Cleveland, he spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles.
It’s pretty unlikely Salako will find himself as a rotation player with the Giants, seeing as the franchise made a big investment in veteran Nate Solder to shore up Eli Manning’s blind side. Nonetheless, New York is a great spot for him to develop, and he could learn a lot behind a guy who has protected Tom Brady since the Ice Age.
Salako went undrafted in 2017 after playing his final two seasons in Stillwater following his transfer from UAB.
