Mike Gundy spoke with Allison Gappa of Orange Power Studios on Friday to provide an update on fall camp at the eight-day point since it began. Among the various topics he discussed included the progress of the QB’s, the newcomers, and what he’s most looking forward to.

Check out transcription of his update below as well as video of the interview at the bottom of the page.

Gundy on fall camp

“Well it’s a very competitive camp. Guys are giving us great effort. I’m really impressed with our coaches and their relationship with their players. Quarterbacks are coming along. Those three or four guys are much further ahead than they even were in the spring. We’re to the point where we have to decide which incoming freshmen we’re going to play. Not exactly the four-game redshirt, but play during the season. We’re going to try to accomplish that by next Tuesday. I like where our team’s at now. Their attitudes have been great.”

Gundy on the incoming high school players

“They seem to be doing really well. Each year they get more and more advanced. High school football is further along than it ever has been. Their training this summer is different than it ever has been. The maturity level of an incoming high school player is higher than it has been in years.”

Gundy on what he’s most excited about

“Just watching them play. We have new faces on offense and a new scheme on defense. They’ve put a lot of hard work in and I’m excited about watching them play and really finding out where we’re at as a team.”
