Cowboy Wrestling Heavyweight Derek White on the WWE Radar
Even with the drastic differences in amateur and professional wrestling a lot of guys do make that transition and have a lot of success with it. One of the top scouts in the WWE is a former OSU wrestler.
Gerald Brisco, a WWE Hall of Famer, is currently a talent scout for the WWE and focuses most of his efforts on NCAA wrestlers. He’s credited with discovering two of the biggest names ever in professional wrestling in Hulk Hogan and Brock Lesnar.
One of his most recent pick ups is Jacob Kasper who by most accounts looks like he’ll make a name for himself in sports entertainment.
He’s now taking a look at Cowboy heavyweight Derek White.
“Derek has the look and the intangible athletic quality to make it in the sports entertainment industry,” Brisco told PFB.
“This business takes work ethic, drive, and personality. Derek has all that-and more. It doesn’t hurt that he’s a Cowboy either.”
When asked about what he could do in his senior season to improve his WWE resume?
“All he has to do is make it to the podium as an All-American, so he has the credentials to back him up.”
I haven’t spoke with Derek regarding this, so I’m not certain what his interest in it is, if he plans to pursue it, etc…
It’s interesting that Vince McMahon’s reaction to Derek White’s jump to heavyweight was similar to most fans.
