NCAA Football Video Game Simulation Predicts 7-Win Season for Oklahoma State in 2018
I’m a sucker for simulations and predictions based off historical data. I don’t put all my stock into them as a preseason measuring stick, but generally speaking, I’ve come to learn that Vegas and oddsmakers alike typically have a pretty good beat on where things project by a seasons end.
Color me clueless when it comes to video game simulations, though. I haven’t owned a video game since NBA 2K2. But my interest was piqued after stumbling onto one users simulation of OSU’s 2018 season.
Until I saw the simulation only ended with the Pokes winning seven games!
Here’s the game-by-game results of the simulation and — spoiler alert! — the end of the season is a bit of a drag.
Missouri State: W
South Alabama: W
Boise State: W
Texas Tech: W
Kansas: W
Iowa State: W
Kansas State: L
Texas: W
Baylor: L
OU: L
West Virginia: L
TCU: L
Blowing out Boise and holding off Iowa State in a tight one both sound great to me, but quadruple-digit losses to OU, West Virginia and Baylor give me major 2014 vibes. So here’s to hoping this user’s simulation isn’t an accurate projection for reality in 2018 — even if Cornelius looked pretty good!
