Dax Hill’s Michigan Choice Shines a Light on Oklahoma State’s Win Rate
Oklahoma State has more wins than Michigan over every period of time since Gundy started.
There are innumerable reasons to pick a college. You may have exercised any number of them in your decision to go to Oklahoma State or OCU or NSU or Texas A&M or wherever you went to college. I don’t bedowngrade anyone for their college choice, and especially not a high school senior who we’re trying to cover in an objective, reasonable way.
I watched the Dax Drama from afar on Tuesday. That’s my day off for the week, and I knew Kyle Boone and everyone else would handle everything with care. It was both bemusing and exhilarating to have a seat at the table in the corner as Dax made his choice.
“I feel like I know everything about Michigan,” Hill told 247 before making his official visit up there last weekend. “(When) I went up there they talked about their alumni and how if football doesn’t work, you can always hit somebody up that used to go there. They’ll connect you with a person. So the alumni, that was one thing that I loved about (Michigan).”
That’s a good reason to pick a school. It also shines a light on the fact that, somewhat humorously to me anyway, you don’t pick Michigan over Oklahoma State if you want to win college football games. I repeat, if you’re going to Michigan instead of Oklahoma State to win as many college football games as possible, you’re going to be sorely disappointed.
A table.

Your thoughts, Mike?
Dax Hill inevitably chose Michigan because of any number of relevant factors — coaching and player relationships, NFL Draft potential and an opportunity to be a Michigan Man (whatever that is) — but he did not choose Michigan because you win more in Ann Arbor than you do in Stillwater. And if he did, then he needs to get his facts straight.
