For Fun, a Look Back at Spencer Sanders’ Ridiculous High School Highlights

Some reason for optimism, even if just for the future.

Spencer Sanders, who is currently buried on OSU’s quarterback depth chart, signed with OSU last December to much acclaim. The Texas Gatorade Player of the Year put up numbers at Denton Ryan, using both his legs and his arm to earn a four-star recruiting ranking while garnering more than a dozen scholarship offers.

Here’s his senior year stats, to give you a glimpse at how dominant he was: 3,877 yards passing, 54 touchdown passes (to only 7 INTs), 66.4 percent completion rate, and most importantly, a 14-1 overall record for the team he led. He also had 1,380 yards rushing and 16 rushing touchdowns for good measure.

There is a reason why he was as pumped up by fans and media alike when he signed with the Pokes.

Sanders arrived on campus late in the summer and hasn’t yet taken the reins of OSU’s offense as quickly as some may have expected, but with five games left on the regular season schedule and a new redshirt rule that allows coaches to use players in up to four games without risking potential eligibility, there’s a chance OSU’s staff may give him some run soon if the offense stagnates in the same way it did against Kansas State a week ago.

So, what the heck, just for fun I took a look back at some of his high school highlights. If you want some hope for OSU amidst this two-game losing streak, I suggest you take a gander, too:
