Conflicting Predictions On A Talented OSU Recruit but Some Think Pokes are the Current Favorite

Recent reports from both 247Sports and Rivals have Brown landing in different spots.

There have been some recent conflicting predictions for where Oklahoma State 2019 recruiting target Christian Brown will ultimately land. Over the weekend, 247Sports’ Director of Basketball Recruiting Evan Daniels and national basketball analyst Brian Snow both submitted crystal ball predictions that the talented four-star prospect would be Georgia bound.

Daniels was then asked in his #AskEvan post from yesterday about his recent forecast placing Brown with Tom Crean in Athens.

“Just the vibe I’m getting. Those two (Georgia and Oklahoma State) seem to be the firm leaders. Brown took an official visit to Georgia back in the fall, and I thought they were the leader then. He most recently took a trip to Oklahoma State, and they’ve certainly made him think. Wouldn’t surprise me to see a college choice from Brown in the very near future. My current Crystal Ball pick is for Georgia.” [247Sports]

However, this morning Corey Evans of Rivals.com was asked in his Wednesday Leftovers post if the Pokes had done enough to land the Oak Hill product, and he had some different thoughts.

“The Cowboys sure have, but I would be surprised if Brown were to commit anytime soon. He has taken official visits to Clemson, Georgia and Oklahoma State this school year and last summer he visited UNLV. It looks as if none of these programs – except Oklahoma State – are still involved, which should bring great optimism to the Cowboys’ fanbase. By all accounts, Brown’s visit to Stillwater two weeks ago went great, and head coach Mike Boynton made sure to follow up with Brown by taking a visit to see him in South Carolina the following Monday.

The feeling is that Brown will take his two remaining official visits before committing. Illinois, NC State, South Carolina and Wichita State are among those in pursuit, and while a visit could change a thing or two, Oklahoma State is the current favorite.” [Rivals.com]

Not only does Evans see OSU as the favorite, but he also believes Georgia isn’t even involved in Brown’s recruiting process any longer. Additionally, he disagrees with Daniels that a commitment from Brown could be coming soon.

No new predictions have been submitted for Brown on 247Sports or Rivals, and the young forward hasn’t been very active on Twitter as of late. He did post to his Instagram that he was in Atlanta yesterday, but I haven’t seen any reports concerning this trip.

I personally think Brown takes his final two visits to NC State and South Carolina, two schools which are close to where he grew up, and then ends up committing to Oklahoma State. I think the relationship he’s built with the coaching staff and the recent hard push the Cowboys have made in recruiting him are enough to sway the skilled wing to commit to OSU.
