In-State Star Brynden Walker Flips Commitment from OSU to OU

Bishop McGuinness linebacker Brynden Walker, one of the highest-rated commitments in OSU’s 2020 recruiting class, flipped his commitment Sunday afternoon from OSU to OU.

Walker’s flip had long been anticipated in recruiting circles as PFB noted earlier this week, but it’s a decision that still stings nonetheless, forcing OSU to fill a hole in the cycle at a position that is a major priority.

The 6-3, 230 pound Walker was a perfect fit in OSU’s defensive scheme as a Calvin Bundage-like edge rusher. He committed to OSU in early March, less than two weeks after he was offered. But when OU offered in mid-April, it was widely believed to be a matter of time before he flipped to the Sooners.

OSU now holds two commitments from linebackers in the 2020 cycle — both from in-state standouts. With an apparent need at the position to replenish talent and account for ongoing pieces, expect OSU to target at least one more linebacker — Jabar Triplett, Catrell Wallace or even KU pledge Krishawn Brown — to fill out the position in the class ahead of December’s signing period.
