Chuba Hubbard, Tylan Wallace Named to AP Preseason All-America Team

Chuba can join exclusive company with an All-American season.

Oklahoma State landed two players on the AP’s Preseason All-America Teams announced Tuesday, with Chuba Hubbard representing the Pokes as the lone First-Teamer and Tylan Wallace representing as a Second-Teamer. (A stunning 23 (!!) players named to the list are not playing this fall.)

Hubbard shares the preseason nod with Clemson RB Travis Etienne, while Wallace is on the Second Team with Minnesota star Rashod Bateman. LSU receiver Ja’Marr Chase and Alabama receiver DeVonta Smith were named to the First Team at the position.

Last season it was Wallace who represented Oklahoma State on the AP Preseason All-America First Team, with Hubbard off the radar entirely. But Wallace’s 2019 season was cut short with an ACL injury while Hubbard broke onto the national radar, leading the country in rushing yards and all-purpose yards and earning All-America honors.

Hubbard has a chance to join exclusive company at Oklahoma State with only one former player — Justin Blackmon — twice earning consensus All-American nods. (Blackmon was an All-American in 2010 and 2011.) He is already in elite company in OSU history after becoming just the fifth running back to come through the program and earn All-American honors, joining Barry Sanders, Thurman Thomas, Terry Miller and Kendall Hunter.

Wallace was an All-American in 2018, joining the likes of Dez Bryant, Hart Lee Dykes, Justin Blackmon, James Washington and Rashaun Woods as OSU receivers who developed into All-Americans. Blackmon and Woods are the only receivers in OSU’s history to be named All-Americans in two different seasons.
