Dillon Stoner to Take Part in Virtual NFLPA Bowl
Things will be different in this year’s NFLPA Bowl.
One day after declaring for this year’s NFL Draft, Oklahoma State wide receiver Dillon Stoner tweeted out his involvement in the NFLPA Bowl, a pre-draft exhibition.
The NFLPA Bowl, like the Reese’s Senior Bowl and the East-West Shrine Game, is normally a chance for prospective draftees to showcase their talents in front of NFL scouts. But normal is a luxury in the new world we live in.
In November, the NFLPA announce the exhibition was canceled because of COVID, just weeks after the East-West Shrine Game was called off.
This is from the NFLPA’s statement on Nov. 13:
Although we will not hold our typical showcase, we are confident that our alternative approach – an innovative, virtual experience intended to educate, equip and empower participants — will still allow us to strategically engage with this year’s class of prospects as well as our stakeholders, broadcast partners and NFL club personnel while building toward a bigger, better experience for 2022 and beyond. It’s unclear exactly what all that entails, but the selection is an honor regardless.
Some of Stoner’s teammates will get to show off in front of NFL evaluators, however, as the Reese’s Senior Bowl is still scheduled to take place. Tylan Wallace, Teven Jenkins and Rodarius Williams are set to take part in the Senior Bowl on Jan. 30 in Mobile, Alabama.
